Blue Ribbon Learning

The reason that students are dismissed early on Thursday and don't have school on Friday this week is due to the Blue Ribbon professional learning conference within the Reading District.  It is an opportunity for staff to participate in a wide range of conferences and workshops and learn from each other as well as outside presenters.  I was lucky enough to see the Barrows News Channel present yesterday - they did a wonderful job sharing their work and also teaching us how to use some of the applications they utilize (check out my video as I try to learn how to use a green screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E60qk25q_2E)

Well done Barrows students and staff!

Just check in at the office with Mrs. Walsh or grab an order form from the PTO bookshelf outside the office and enjoy the yummy ideas from our Shining Stars community.

Student Gardening, a timely blog post!

School gardens provide informal setting for learning
Students more likely are to try fruits and vegetables they have grown themselves, asserts Julia Parker-Dickerson, director of education programs for KidsGardening.org. In this blog post, she highlights how school gardens can provide an informal setting to teach students about nutrition and engage the mind and body. SmartBrief/SmartBlog on Education (4/2)
